I’ve talked about Pursuit 31 before, the Christian Women Photographer’s group that I am a part of. For the past two years, this group has been in many ways, over and beyond what I could have expected. I am in some 5 or so different Facebook groups tied to Pursuit 31 but it’s easy to get lost or overwhelmed by the social media aspect of it all. That being said, it’s because of social media that I discovered Pursuit 31 even existed. And it’s because of social media that I “followed” a few photographers scattered up and down the east coast, all of whom I had met just once at the P31 conference… but all of whom I knew were incredibly special women. And all of whom I’d spend a weekend at the beach with.
Just about two weeks ago, I attended a workshop in Long Beach Island, NJ called Cultivate to “boldly awaken your brand and lifestyle”. I heard about the workshop through these amazing Pursuit 31 group whom I barely knew, but knew I loved their hearts. And man. I was blown away but what these three(ish) days did. I was challenged about my brand and what it says about me & my business (more on that, coming soon!). I was also part of a mind-blowing day talking about business and finances and having a plan… which essentially boils down to getting your life back and focusing on the things that matter! But what I couldn’t have expected, were that these women who were just social media presences in my life, (albeit the encouraging, beautiful kind of social media presence), became friends. Friends whose hearts’ beat so similarly and whose visions make you want to scream “Yeeees” like “Sue” in the SNL Skit with Kristen Wiig. (Seriously, if you want to know what I am like, 80% of the time, watch this clip. If you don’t know me, it will prepare you for what’s to come when we meet. And if you do, you’ll wonder how SNL got into my head and created this sketch based on my innermost excitability). Anyway, these are incredible Godly women (who all live entirely too far away from me) who have encouraged me, challenged me, loved me, and prayed for me. We shared struggles and successes, hurts and joys, and the importance of putting God at the center, all in a few (super) late night talks. And that was a cultivation of relationships that I could not have seen coming through the workshop description. I know this blog post got personal real quick. But, I haven’t blogged in over a month, and I am, (spoiler alert!), working on re-awakening my brand a good bit… and this weekend had a lot to do with that!
One afternoon we had some time for headshots and I grabbed a few shots of two of the incredible women I spent the weekend with, Rachelle & Joni. Rachelle is an amazing wife, mom, friend & super talented photographer in New Hamshire. Joni (pronounced Johnny!) is an incredible wife, mom, friend & does beautiful filmography. It was my privilege to capture just a few quick portraits of them, and I am so excited to get to share them with you! love you girls, dearly.
