For the past year, Alyce had talked about wanting to do some sort of “trash the dress” session for their upcoming anniversary. Alyce and Dave celebrated 10 years in October so she also knew she wanted this photo session to be something special. She and Dave love adventure, especially when the outdoors are involved. She threw around ideas ranging from local Maryland park trails to traveling to the forests of Maine, but she knew that at the least, she wanted to hike in her wedding dress. Dave was happy to oblige. :) My husband and his sister are familiar with Seneca Rocks hiking and climbing and so, we planned a trip to West Virginia in November. The, perhaps disappointing, truth about me is that I am not a climber, or a hiker, or a caver, or a… yeah. I spent 5 years in full-time camp ministry before doing photography full-time, but it’s a lovely camp on the water. Mountains, while I appreciate their beauty, are not my first love. And so, it’s true evidence of my love for our dear friends Dave and Alyce because we literally hiked to the top of a mountain for their portrait session! My husband was standing behind me the entire time to ensure I didn’t fall off because I am super clumsy… and when all was said and done, I am so glad we did it!
My sister-in-law, Tori, put together this bouquet with findings from our hike. I just love it. And, Alyce’s wedding dress was hand-made by her and a friend from church- all the embroidery and everything!
Alyce & Dave I love you both and I am so glad we all went on this adventure together. Happy 10 years and here’s to 100 more!
