When I walked into Starbucks to meet with Elena and Gary, we all immediately remembered one another. I first met Elena in a high school Biology class. We bonded over plant cell diagrams and the fact that we both had Miniature Pinscher pups as pets. I didn’t really keep in touch with Elena over the years, but ironically, my husband’s parents are good friends with Elena’s parents (my sister-in-law will actually be an attendant in their wedding too!). I knew Gary from high school as well, only having met him a handful of times. Our meeting last winter, however, went so smoothly- it really was like reconnecting with old friends. That’s how it is, spending time with the two of them- since they have known each other since high school as well.
We were sadly rained out the first time we attempted to do engagement photos- it was one of those days in April when it just poured. It was important for Elena and Gary to do their shoot outside, by the water, since Elena grew up on the South River and the couple spent a lot of time out on the family pier during their summers together. We rescheduled for what I think was the hottest day in June- but they were both just thankful for the sunshine and we still had a great time.
Elena’s family has since moved from their riverfront home, but some gracious neighbors allowed us to use their property to capture the South River in the couple’s engagement session. I was pretty much in love with their boathouse… and their pier… I love just about everything “the waterfront” has to offer…And this, my friends, is why we call it the “golden hour”…
Ah, have I mentioned I love the beach? And these two? Because I do.
I have so much fun with you, Elena and Gary- and I cannot wait for your wedding in October!
