When Kaley told me she was pregnant I was excited, shocked, amazed, thrilled, overwhelmed… all wrapped up together into one emotional (and slightly embarrassing) outburst. You see, Kaley and I shared a bunk bed for two years in college. We once traveled 3,000 miles from the Atlantic to the Pacific in a car and did not get tired of each other- not even in the Mojave Desert. We have shared many tears and joys with each other since our senior year of high school, where we first met. She and her husband have moved around quite a bit already in their three years of marriage because Nick is a Lieutenant JG in the Navy. When the Navy moved them across the country to California I had a really hard time saying goodbye (though I thoroughly enjoyed having an excuse to visit the west coast!) So, when they told me that their little Navy family would be growing to three, I had a hard time imagining being so far from her through this pregnancy (and soon the birth) of their sweet little boy! Hence the reason for my tiny outburst when she shared this blessed news with me!
It is hard being so far, but it has been wonderful to talk with her and visit with her a few times in the last 9 months. One of the visits was this summer when she was about 8 months pregnant, so I jumped at the opportunity (and kind of had to fight her tooth and nail) to get some photos of her cute pregnant self! I am so excited for them and I cannot wait to meet sweet baby Owen, who is due to arrive in just over a week!
