Friends, I am so so excited to share Katie and Blake’s wedding with you. Katie contacted me somewhat last-minute, just over a month before her wedding day, asking if I would be interested and available to shoot her wedding. Some plans had changed and she was in need of a photographer for her June wedding. I was so excited to hear from Katie- we went to high school together and college as well, actually. Katie was, to me, one of the kindest people I had ever known. We met one morning over coffee and I was thrilled that albeit a last-minute
booking, it was going to work out perfectly for me to be Katie and Blake’s wedding photographer.
Katie and Blake were married at the William Paca House & Garden in historic downtown Annapolis. For as long as I have lived here (forever), I have never gone into the House or Garden, just merely walked by the front of it. It’s one of the downsides of being native to a place with so much history… I never take the official tours or visit museums since I am not a “tourist”. It has been my loss, for sure, having not ever visited- the Garden was absolutely beautiful and the most perfect location for Katie + Blake’s wedding.
Simply one of the most elegant brides I have ever seen…
Katie’s twin brother Tommy passed away recently from complications due to Crohn’s disease. It was, of course, difficult beyond words to not have her brother there as a part of their wedding day. In his memory and honor, Katie wore maroon shoes (a favorite color for his favorite football team, the Redskins) and a heart cut from one of Tommy’s shirts, pinned to the underside of her dress.
The reception tent was beautifully decorated with details made almost entirely by Katie and Blake and their friends and family. I loved the succulents at each place setting as a favor for their guests!
Katie’s friend Ashley is an artist and painted this sweet bride & groom cake topper for Katie and Blake.
A bagpiper played beautifully as guests were seated, and of course as Katie walked down the aisle. My favorite was the flower girl’s response to the loud bagpipe music. She walked the whole aisle like this. :)
I love the expression on the face of a groom looking on as his bride approaches.
Katie and Blake were married with the beautiful Paca Garden Summer House as their backdrop.
We took some time around the Paca Garden as well as out on Prince George Street to get some gorgeous portrait shots of Katie and Blake. They were both so wonderful and willing as I kept walking them around and saying, “ooh! Stop right here- this spot is PERFECT!” :)
I have to say, this next one might be a favorite…
Blake. Seriously. Male model much? :)
Thank you, Katie and Blake, for trusting me to be your photographer. I cannot even begin to tell you the honor it was to capture your wedding day. I wish you all the best in your marriage!
