Meet Tara

Hi! I’m Tara, an Annapolis, MD based wedding and portrait photographer. Probably the most common question I get is, “did you go to school for photography?” The answer is no, I didn’t… in fact, I got my degree in Conflict Resolution. And yes, that’s a real major! I spent five years post-college devoted to a full-time camp and conference ministry located on the Chesapeake Bay and somewhere during that time I decided to pursue photography. I became a full-time photographer in 2012 and I am loving looking out at what is ahead of me! Although my formal training did not come from college, I have always loved photography. My aunt, Carolyn, is our unofficial family photographer and she taught me a lot of what I know- not the least of which is the true value of a photograph and what it means to have photos for the generations to come. I am primarily a wedding photographer because it is what I love! As the saying goes, I love love, and the emotion and excitement around two people in love who devote their lives to one another. Sometimes I cannot believe that it is my job to capture that for people. I love that!

Speaking of love, I have a husband, Ben, who daily reminds me of what love really is. We have a red Miniature Pinscher named Rigby who believes she rules the roost and a full-spirited red Labradoodle named Dublin. We live on a family farm complete with cows, chickens, and wide open spaces. I long for the city life sometimes but I can’t imagine living too far from green fields and waterfront. When people ask me what my hobby is, my answer is always quality time- visiting and talking with friends. I know the Lord has blessed me beyond measure and I am thankful for this adventure that is life!

I would love to meet you and chat about how I can capture a part of your story through photography. Head over to the website to learn more and use the contact form to say hello!
