Shelly and Jason are dear to me. I’ve known Shelly for years, but more recently I have had the privilege of documenting such important parts of their journey as a family. Two years ago we did a 5 year anniversary shoot in DC. Shelly and Jason had been in the adoption process and on a weekend I got a call asking if I would be available because they were bringing their daughter home and wanted me to photograph meeting their baby girl for the first time. It was one of my greatest privileges to date. A little over a month ago I got another call. Shelly wanted to know if I would be available for a “family shoot” as she and Jason had news to share with her family. At just about 7 years of marriage and almost 5 years of trying to get pregnant, Shelly and Jason were expecting their second child, and first pregnancy. We are on the phone, both crying (she in the grocery store, me in the car on the way to a photo shoot) both praising God together as we pegged down details for the big reveal. Shelly told me, there’s a good chance my mom and sisters are just going to lose it. She was right. :) So we set up a big family photo, from the grandparents all the way down to the great-grandchildren, as if nothing strange was happening… and Shelly and Jason had made a sign that was then put right in front of everyone- “Shelly is Prego!” And this, was the response. :) (You should also check out Shelly’s blog for a fun video of their journey and this reveal!)
Their sweet girl Justice is going to be a big sister!
Congratulations again Shelly and Jason. And thank you for allowing me to be a part of this, and so many other joyous events in your lives! Love you!
