The making of a family photo…

I have a few good sessions I am working on, but not quite ready to share yet… (soon!) However, going into the weekend on this gray day, I felt that today was a blog post kind of day. So I thought I would share with you some of our “family photos” from over Christmas break. The other day, my friend Kaley sent me a text saying she missed Christmas, knowing that I’d understand. If you know me at all or have even read some of my blog posts over the last few months, you know that I love Christmas. :) So in the spirit of missing Christmas a little, why not share some portraits from our family Christmas?? You’re welcome. ;)

Over Christmas break (one thing I will never complain about my husband being a teacher is a week or so for Christmas break!), we got to travel to Pennsylvania for a few days to visit with some of our dearest friends whom we now call family. What a blessing. We didn’t have a fancy set up or a studio space, but I had brought my camera and one lens and we had 20 people that needed one big photo together. These 20 are spread out from Colorado to Pennsylvania to Maryland to Virginia all the way to Sweden. So regardless of the outcome, a family photo would be precious… but not necessarily easy! And so, I give you, the making of a family photo…

And finally, a half way decent shot…

Needless to say, I was thankful when the “snow storm” the next day was much milder than expected and we could grab a good outdoor photo. :)

And perhaps my favorite part? The contrast between the “boys photo” and the “girls photo”. It’s like, “let’s stand as tall and strong as we can” vs. “oh my gosh! I love you so much! How close can we get?!?” ;)

I love you all so dearly and Ben and I are so thankful to call you family. Happy weekend everyone, and here’s to looking forward to next Christmas! ;)
